UNIFORM PATROL

Our Uniform Patrol Division is the front line in our law enforcement mission and for most citizens represents the “face” of our office. Patrol operates 24/7 365. In 2022, our Patrol deputies patrolled 162,830 miles, responded to 3,524 calls for service, investigated 171 vehicle crashes, answered 592 alarm calls, made 357 arrests, wrote 376 traffic tickets, and made 1,482 traffic stops for vehicle defects or unsafe driving.

In addition to the established duties described above, our deputies are responsible for proactively patrolling the over 300 square miles of East Feliciana Parish. The goal of proactive patrol is to prevent or suppress crime before it happens. Deputies working their regularly scheduled shifts account for most of the patrol time. However, the regular shift patrols are periodically augmented by proactive criminal patrols. Deputies are relieved of answering routine calls to concentrate on crime suppression during these patrols.

The primary goal of the Patrol deputies is serving the public. This service include keeping the peace, preventing crime, protecting life and property, apprehending criminals, assisting victims and improving the overall safety of our citizens.
